Hard Water Stain Removal & Window Glass Restoration
Spokane WA water is exceptionally high in mineral content and over time windows can develop mineral stain deposits, hard water stains, oxidation and environmental damage that normal window cleaning cannot remove. This is most commonly seen due to miss-aimed sprinklers and windows with direct exposure to rainfall. Another area that can really benefit from our mineral deposit removal process is shower glass panels. Our professional window glass restoration services can restore your window or shower glass clarity without the costly expense of replacement!

Spokane Window Glass Mineral Deposit Removal
Nearly all the homes in Spokane, Spokane Valley and into Coeur d’Alene rely on well water or municipal systems that, when combined with architectural runoff from sidings, stone facades or concrete siding, create a “mineral cocktail” that leave a corrosive slurry on window and shower glass. Rainwater flushes down environmental pollutants that are also highly corrosive to glass. When rainwater or overspray from sprinkers (way too common) hits building exteriors, it picks up minerals from the materials, along with the dust, dirt and environmental pollutants and deposits them directly onto your glass. When the water evaporates, it leaves behind the minerals that slowly accumulate and degrade your view and the integrity of the window glass.
Stages of Corrosion:
While we can successfully remove most hard water deposits on window and shower glass, if left on for too long the damage can become unrepairable.
Stage 1 Corrosion: These are hazy, white spots that sit on top of the glass. Glass feels rough to your fingers instead of smooth. At this stage, our specialized chemical de-scalers are typically 100% effective at stain removal.
Stage 2 Corrosion: This is where the minerals have actually leached into the molecular structure of the glass. The glass has moved beyond surface deposits as the water has literally leached calcium and silica OUT of the glass — leaving it pitted and damaged.
At the point of Stage 2 Corrosion, our glass restoration process only provides limited improvement, anywhere from 90% to as low as 50%. Anything below 50% we don’t bother recommending or even charge for.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Is hard water stain removal safe for my window frames?
A: Yes. At Spokane Handy Services, we use frame-safe, solutions specifically designed for the wood, vinyl, and aluminum frames commonly found in Spokane homes and businesses. It will simply clean them up too!
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Depends on the number of windows/glass, difficulty accessing, etc. Our minimum charge is $200 and will generally easily accomodate your shower glass and a window or three.
Q: Will the stains come back?
A: Oh, yes, if the conditions that created it remain. But it’s easy to prevent. Make sure sprinklers don’t hit siding or windows, clean windows more often and use slightly acidic water (like vinegar) to do so. For showers, wipe down glass after every shower (or better yet, just fill a spray bottle with scented vinegar and spray glass after every shower.)
Don’t let your beautiful shower glass look like this!
